On October 11, 2016, I received the heart of an organ donor in an operation at Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital in Cape Town. You can read about my journey to that point and my life since then, on other blog posts. Before my transplant, my family started collecting images of heart-shaped objects. It was their way of making sense of what we were living through, of maintaining hope, that I may still live. Since my transplant, there has been a greater imperative to find hearts wherever one may be. It’s been amazing fun, joined in by relatives and friends from all over.
