WELCOME NEW USERS

Since the Covid-19 pandemic arrived and especially during the national lockdown in South Africa, I have seen an increase in interest in this site.

That is great to have but it also means more management of the site from my side and, perhaps, a bit more attention to security issues. (I have noticed, for example, a dramatic increase in users I absolutely have no interest in entertaining – pun intended.) I’m working hard to ensure that security is not compromised for the site or users. But, remember, this will always be a static site – you will never get requests to share any private information on the site, or buy stuff or connect in real time.

My primary interest in starting this site was to share relevant and credible information about organ transplantation generally, and heart transplantation specifically. I have a huge interest also in congenital heart diseases and in supporting young patients and their loved ones. These are defining interests for me in maintaining this site.

But, increasingly, I must emphasise that I am not a medical professional by any stretch of the imagination. I have only my own story to share – sometime I may have very strident views on my experiences, but I can offer no more than a personal insight or opinion.

Because I work as a journalist and have other research and communication pursuits, the site also reflects some of those interests. These may not be where you are at. That’s cool. We have enough in common to ensure a meaningful and respectful online relationship. Hopefully, it’s easy enough for you to navigate around the site to where your own information interests are met.

Importantly, I would love to have your online responses to and engagement with the issues which are raised here.

Thanks for following WordPix.

So awesome to have met you today. And encouraged to walk this journey with Andre. I am a fighter and won’t stop until my husband is able to live fully again
